Spokeo - New age yellow pages or stalker tool?

Just found out about spokeo which claims is a "name search engine specializes in organizing vast quantities of public records".  However, the data it organizes and obtains is upsetting.  Snopes , which maintains a database of the Internet's scams and rumors, has verified it is real.  Wikipedia also has additional info.

However, there is a bright side to all of this.  There is a privacy link at the bottom of every page which allows you to remove your data and preserve some of your remaining privacy.  I urge you to search for your name and the names of your friends and family and urge them to remove themselves from the site's search results.
